In this major, students study and develop skills in most areas related to the entertainment industry. A general study of mass communications, video and television production, advertising, journalism, film history & appreciation, and creative writing are components of this major. Students also learn video production techniques with a concentration on scriptwriting, lighting, audio, special effects, and audio and video editing. Students will spend time job shadowing and interning at various local entertainment businesses. This major program is designed to prepare students for employment in entry-level positions within the industry as well as providing the basic skills and foundations for future study. The program provides students with the opportunity to develop school based projects from "vision" to "reality" working both individually and in teams to design, write, create/produce, edit/critique, and present a finished product and portfolio of work over a two year period.
