Learning at AAST
Our students embrace the concept that discovery is an intrinsic part of the learning process and requires the use of invention and creativity. Teachers and students at AAST strive to create an atmosphere in which innovation is fostered and can fluidly occur, thereby ensuring that this generation is ready for the opportunities of the future in their chosen STEM careers. Our school's logo was designed last year by a senior Digital Communications Major student. It combines the acronym for the school and the Koi fish, which has been used as a symbol to represent the school over the past 4 years.
The Koi fish represents AAST and its students well because it is a creature associated with the trials and lessons individuals encounter throughout life. Some of the specific characteristics associated with the Koi include: good fortune, success, prosperity, longevity, courage, ambition, and perseverance. Lastly, the Koi fish is unique in that it can grow as large or small as its environment allows. In a small pond, it will stay small; in a large pond, it can grow as large as the space allows.
The staff at AAST wants parents and students to feel that this school is a place which fosters the and nurtures the potential of young people in ways that can make any dream a reality!
